Details: Well there are back targeting the members who use this site. We can not give out the details that we are given but by all means you can share them between yourselves.
Unfortunately we cannot do anything about this as there is no restrictions on anyone reading these adverts.
If we made everybody sign in it still wouldn't stop the problem as the scammers, who seem to be genuine would just sign in.
What can be done is for the advertisers to be be more aware.
It seems as if the pattern is repeated.
The seller works away, fishing vessel seems to be a common one.
They always need a bank transfer.
Now a few questions:
Do they supply photographs?
Do they seem knowledgeable ?
One way to sort a scammer out would be to tell them you have a friend in the area who is prepared to collect and pay cash.
Anyone backing away from this would seem very suspect to me.
Don't use payment methods that you cannot reverse (PayPal and that type of site will protect you from this type of scam and they won't use it)
Now when a bank transfer is made and nothing happens has anyone contacted the police in the area the bank is located ? This is fraud after all.
If you do want to post information on this please visit our forums.
You can also report it to the police via Action Fraud or on 0300 123 2040
Very easy to do they collate all Fraud with the Metropolitan Police, this was a request from a person at Action Fraud.

Details: Myford Super 7B lathe 3 ½ x 19” with power cross feed, screwcutting gearbox and variable speed from an inverter. It has imperial feedscrews. The lathe is run from a single phase supply to a Mitsubishi inverter, 1hp motor and control unit (all supplied by Newton Tesla in 2005) and gives variable speed, soft start and jog. Supplied with 3 and 4 jaw Burnerd chucks, both with screwed bodies for minimum overhang, faceplate, catchplate, spare backplate, travelling steady, running centre, Jacobs tailstock chuck, straddle type knurling tool and hard and soft centres. Manuals for the lathe, gearbox, controller and tachometer. It is fitted to a cabinet stand and has a Myford splashback. The lathe is in superb condition, has had one owner from new and has only had light use for model engineering. It has been unused in storage for over 20 years so has minimal wear. Within the last 18 months it has had a £400 service from Darren Boden, an ex Myford fitter. This involved a complete stripdown, new belts, bearing wick, bed wipers, and scraping the bearing and slides to original tolerances. Many refinements have been added to the lathe, including pinning the topslide gib strip and fitting a lock, fitting a rubber bed protector and securing the tailstock barrel key to remove play. A digital tachometer is fitted that also has the facility to input work diameter and calculate cutting speed. The lathe can be viewed under power at New Mills, Derbyshire – SK22 4LU £2200, Buyer to collect.

Details: A few years ago at Sandown show I bought some 5mm diameter green belting that you could join by melting the ends together. The difference with this belting is it is stretchy like a rubber band not just rubber with a bit of give. It really is elastic type stretchy and is brilliant. I know need some more but cant find it listed anywhere. The company at Sandown show was selling it in different sizes by the meter and he had lots of rolls. Can anyone tell me where to get some please. Many thanks, Steve.

Details: I was researching a piece on spring making and came across a thread on Practical Machinist. This was a guy looking to make springs to repair a Studer. It reminded me that when I got my own Studer OB grinder I was lucky enough to be lent a whole box full of manuals and drawings (only general assembly type, no dimensions). I made all the small stuff into PDF myself and had the larger ones done professionally.
If anyone out there owns an OB and would like some of this I can easily email it through, albeit perhaps not in one mail as the whole folder is 440MB. Let me know.

Details: This is a heavily-built horizontal milling machine constucted in Taiwan (Not China) in 1981, to a high specification. I bought it new, and since the it has very light use, in my Model Engineer's Workshop. The specifications are as follows: Gearbox Head, with six speeds between 59 - 800 RPM. Speed selected by two levers. X table 6" x 24" Travel 14" Bed unmarked. Y axis travel 8" Z axis travel 12" Spindle Bore R8. This is unusual in a horizontal machine, allowing the use of readily available and relatively inexpensive accessories. Heavy cast-iron overarm sliding on precision-machined dovetails. 'Limitless Vice' on table. Coolant equipment. Central lubrication. Single phase motors, run from a domestic 13A plug. 2-Axis Sony DRO system, with a separate Z-axis read-out. A large selection of arbors, accessories and cutters. Weight 520kg
We have measured this machine and the dimensions are roughly as follows: Base: 1ft 6ins x 2ft. Depth (front to back) 3ft 1ins. Height: 4ft 2ins Working width (ie X axis table from full left to full right) 4ft 6ins.
Buyer to arrange collection from an easily accessible garage in St Albans, and transport to your premises. Please send email for pictures.

Details: hi can anyone tell me what type of grease to use in a hobbymat mill geared head it just keeps flinging the grease off it runs quiet till grease gone off the teeth I remember many years ago not sure if in model engineer to use some form of gear or chain spray which was very sticky
Details: A friend at work comes to the Harrogate exhibition with me every year, and he brings his 12 year old grandson along as well. The lads parents have just split up so he is a bit down in the dumps just now.
The thing is he is interested in model engineering but his grandad cannot afford to buy a lathe for him. I was wondering if anyone had something very small and very cheap that I could buy for him as a starter project. An old Zyto or similar sized machine would fit the bill.
Details: I am looking for one of these machines for my workshop. I probably will not be able to justify spending the going rate for a fully tooled up and working one, but if I could find a "fixer upper" that was within my budget that might be a different story.
Details: Axminster RF25 mill drill stripped for transport for time waster who decided he didnt want it in the end, hence no photo but one of Axminsters current version.
I am the third owner of this machine the other two didn't use it much and I know them personally, I have previously stripped and sorted it, lapped gibs etc, fitted a 3 phase motor and inverter with control box giving on/off, fwd/rev, run/inch, speed and Emergency stop circuit.
Spindle speed now is from 0 to 10,000 rpm
There is also a 36 inch high floor stand made from 100x150 RHS with suds tray
I thought I might try and sell it before I go to the trouble of putting it all back together, however I will build it with the buyer in my workshop in Leicester to prove it out.
