Warnings

Warning: Scams

Details:
Well there are back targeting the members who use this site. We can not give out the details that we are given but by all means you can share them between yourselves.
Unfortunately we cannot do anything about this as there is no restrictions on anyone reading these adverts.
If we made everybody sign in it still wouldn't stop the problem as the scammers, who seem to be genuine would just sign in.

What can be done is for the advertisers to be be more aware.

It seems as if the pattern is repeated.
The seller works away, fishing vessel seems to be a common one.
They always need a bank transfer.

Now a few questions:
Do they supply photographs?
Do they seem knowledgeable ?

One way to sort a scammer out would be to tell them you have a friend in the area who is prepared to collect and pay cash.
Anyone backing away from this would seem very suspect to me.
Don't use payment methods that you cannot reverse (PayPal and that type of site will protect you from this type of scam and they won't use it)
Now when a bank transfer is made and nothing happens has anyone contacted the police in the area the bank is located ? This is fraud after all.

If you do want to post information on this please visit our forums.
You can also report it to the police via Action Fraud or on 0300 123 2040
Very easy to do they collate all Fraud with the Metropolitan Police, this was a request from a person at Action Fraud.

KX3 cutting the Crank

KX3 cutting the Crank

Well a lot of people asked how it was done and how the code was made for the part. To be honest it was not easy as they seemed to be a lot of formulas for working out the coordinates but none of them allowed the 3 axis to all move together and track the position over the pin and only remove a small cut on each pass. So out came excel and the good old trig book and some of the many formulas. After some hair loss the code took shape using the A axis as the main driving axis and slaving the others to it. To work the Y axis shift was the easiest as this didn't need to adjust for the cut depth. The Z was harder in that both the fact that the cut is taken below the Z0 and that it needs to take a small cut each pass.

Code:

PCD = the diameter the centre of the pin follows.

PIN = the diameter of the pin
BAR = the diameter of the bar stock
PASS = the pass
PASSES = the number of pass to take

A = ((A+0.1)%360)
Y = (PCD/2)*SIN(A)
Z = -((PCD)-((PCD/2)*COS(A)+(PIN/2)))*(PASS/PASSES)

Hi Adam,
I was one of the ones asking for the formula. Thanks for posting it. I have a few questions:
Is Z zeroed on the top of the blank?
I'm confused with PASS and PASSES. Are they both constants or does PASS increment by one each full revolution of A? (e.g PASS=PASS + 1 until PASS=PASSES)
If PASS doesn't increase I can't see how it takes a deeper cut after one full 360 degree turn as A will start at zero again.
Apologies if I'm missing something obvious.
Cheers.

Phil.

Re: KX3 cutting the Crank

Yes the Z was zeroed on the top of the blank and yes PASS does increment each revolution.

Thanks Adam,

I'm going to have a go at BBC Basic (for Windows) program to generate the gcode.
