Re: 31 year old SUZUKI going to bonneville salt flats Thought the bike should be an Indian. I think you but boot polish on the tyres to hide the cracks. Best of luck, I have been on a motorbike once never again, but I do admire anybody who can hang on at 160 mph. Do let us know how you get on.
My world still turns on a Colchester lathe

Re: 31 year old SUZUKI going to bonneville salt flats Good luck PJ, it'll be something remember for sure. Always wanted to visit Bonneville but life keeps getting in the way. Been 215.7mph over here on the runway but I'm told it's a lot tougher on the salt - not much grip and a rough ride too.

Re: 31 year old SUZUKI going to bonneville salt flats I wish all who attempt speed records all the best as a UK sprint rider of the early 1970 who has first hand knowledge of the success and pitfalls of record attempts you should achieve your goals seeing the preparation that you have done.

Re: 31 year old SUZUKI going to bonneville salt flats last update-we put all 6 bikes in the container tomorrow morning sealit and ship it-we had a dyno day that went horribly wrong-showing up some bad faults in our head and our carbs-all high price parts built by others-after a very long session in two workshops we got them where we wanted to be-

Re: 31 year old SUZUKI going to bonneville salt flatsPJ As someone who scared himself s..tless over 50 years ago riding a Norton Dominator at full bore down the fairly new M1, (no speed limits in those days) wish you all the luck in the world in your endeavour. I didn't say it was a perfect plan.

Re: 31 year old SUZUKI going to bonneville salt flats thanks everyone for the support-the bikes landed in new york and were then shipped to longbeach port authority in LA-the customs men there x rayed our container and didn,t like the lead shot [ballast] in one or two of the bikes swining arms-there answer....levy a charge-we arrive in longbeach en masse aug 6th-i hope there are no more [endless] official hassle-on the bright side we have picked up a few more sponsors and reckon to be good to go [fast]

Re: 31 year old SUZUKI going to bonneville salt flats Anyone heard from PJ? The results are incomplete but I do see a 161.297mph on the Tuesday which is fantastic for an old aircooled at that altitude, but the last run on the Wednesday was 73.8mph so I hope that doesn't mean they had engine troubles. Unfortunately the last two days' results aren't listed.

Re: 31 year old SUZUKI going to bonneville salt flats hey pete-well spotted-the best run i got was 164mph-which is streetbike speeds but we lost the motor-either salt ingestion, oil issues or the skulls have moved in the head again-either way it was not too bad-got my C licence-which is good for another 3 years-we suffered with a wandering misfire, the ram air didn,t work out-i had my doubts, but it was worth a try-the fastest speeds were done just below the power,so there is a lot to come from this bike-very enjoyable event, the salt was in the best shape for years, it was just over too quick-the bike got a lot of attention, and some really positive comments-which was most gratifying---- -yes the BBC will airing a two hour documentary on BBC2 in january next year-'a summer of speed' i think

Re: 31 year old SUZUKI going to bonneville salt flats Cool - I thought that last run was the engine going sick but was hoping it was a less serious technical problem.
