Warnings

Warning: Scams

Details:
Well there are back targeting the members who use this site. We can not give out the details that we are given but by all means you can share them between yourselves.
Unfortunately we cannot do anything about this as there is no restrictions on anyone reading these adverts.
If we made everybody sign in it still wouldn't stop the problem as the scammers, who seem to be genuine would just sign in.

What can be done is for the advertisers to be be more aware.

It seems as if the pattern is repeated.
The seller works away, fishing vessel seems to be a common one.
They always need a bank transfer.

Now a few questions:
Do they supply photographs?
Do they seem knowledgeable ?

One way to sort a scammer out would be to tell them you have a friend in the area who is prepared to collect and pay cash.
Anyone backing away from this would seem very suspect to me.
Don't use payment methods that you cannot reverse (PayPal and that type of site will protect you from this type of scam and they won't use it)
Now when a bank transfer is made and nothing happens has anyone contacted the police in the area the bank is located ? This is fraud after all.

If you do want to post information on this please visit our forums.
You can also report it to the police via Action Fraud or on 0300 123 2040
Very easy to do they collate all Fraud with the Metropolitan Police, this was a request from a person at Action Fraud.

31 year old SUZUKI going to bonneville salt flats

Re: 31 year old SUZUKI going to bonneville salt flats

That was a great programme and much better than I expected. I had no doubt the individuals concerned would be interesting, but so often such programmes are too butchered for mass market consumption to be of much interst to the likes of us. This was a happy exception. It must have been pretty good as 'er indoors watched too.

I LOL'd at PJ's comment about the bike parts in the bedroom, " bordering on outrageous " Bravo!

Re: 31 year old SUZUKI going to bonneville salt flats

Yesterday sent a link on the program to my friend who works in New Guinea (licensed aircraft engineer)he had problems watching it but some Americans overcame it with a cheater program so hopefully he will see it.
Great to find people from all over this World that have an interest in creating rather than paying others to do things for them.
Sundays soon then glued to the TV for an hour.

Re: 31 year old SUZUKI going to bonneville salt flats

Now PJ the programs on utube and my friend watched it his comments they all look old so I might have a go.
I replied would they miss one of them gas turbines off one of your helicopters we could then make it a United Nation effort Yorkshire and NZ.
Phil and his friend Bob got one of my sprint frames in about 1970 so I'd build frame and he would be the mechanic.
Pipe dreams but the attraction of speed records never go away so I play with steam driven model hydroplanes and got the National record last year.
Keep the thread alive and let us all know about any future projects.

Re: 31 year old SUZUKI going to bonneville salt flats

will do-the omega class record for an un faied-non wheel driven motorcycle is set at an astonishing 20mph-would your gas turbine machine be able to compete at this level-the holder is a french team-so it,s our duty to beat them!" [actually really nicefrench people-as most are] but still our traditional enemy!!
the french machine was electric and relied on photo cell charged batteries-mike corbin has gone 180mph on a partially streamlined electric bike-and the record now stands at over 200 for PS-
i,d recommend joining the SCTA and getting a regs book-OR join our new landspeed racing club and come and have a go on PENDINE SANDS

JUNE 22-23 2013 - anyone with any interest in landspeed racing either here or in america , feel free to get in touch-we are involved in racing at bonneville for the next 4 years-

Re: 31 year old SUZUKI going to bonneville salt flats

Gotta say I enjoyed that - I enjoyed the first episode more though. You got big cahuhas riding that thing at Pendine. I might pop along on my turbo bike and say hi but I'll definately not be taking it on the beach.

Re: 31 year old SUZUKI going to bonneville salt flats

After watching the second speed dreams it has ignited my love of bike speed records.
To see the actual distance the machines have a go at and the mechanical problems they have bring back memories when I was attempting records at Elvington and Fairford in the early 1970's with my blown Triumphs.
They were only short courses compared to the salt flats.
I am 70 now but the thrill I still get watching all you chaps doing what I dreamed of.
To me the team spirit and comrades are priceless.

Re: 31 year old SUZUKI going to bonneville salt flats

Yes I enjoyed it very much as well. I had the usual trepidation in that the TV guys try to make enthusiasts look weird or really geeky but this one was well measured.
I haven't seen the second episode yet and perhaps the answer is there but what grade of steel was used to make the crank?. I would loved to have watched a one hour program on how the crank was turned, treated and then finished.
Wife and daughter going to see 'Les Mis' at the cinema tonight so peace and quiet to watch both episodes :-)

Re: 31 year old SUZUKI going to bonneville salt flats

Watched episode 2 last night here in Vancouver. I use a VPN service which has a similar function to Expat Shield. I pay $8/mo but it's advert-free. Gives us access to BBC, ITV etc so that life can carry on in a sensible fashion!!

Fantastic. I was looking forward to this and it didn't disappoint. As the others commented, the producers did a great job by not trying to be too clever or too much repetition. And the soundtrack worked well. Great to give them the chance to get over there together and have a go at breaking their balls on The Salt. It would be a pleasure to spend time working with any of these boys.

Nice work PJ - and good to see a man with a "proper" sense of humour! Good luck with the duck.
