I'm stuck!
I'm trying to dismantle the headstock on a Drummond 'M' type lathe (I need to make a new 22T backgear). I've removed all the screws I can see. I can tell that the 'front' (chuck end) bearing is larger in diameter than the 'rear' - so the mandrel must come out 'forwards', but I can't see how the bull-wheel assembly is fastened to the mandrel. Is it simply keyed and seized with age, or is it something more subtle that I'm missing?
Before I get out the big hammer (something I hate to do), does anyone have any ideas?
