Well we have more features,

  1. Use correct sentience formatting rules, a space after the colon: semi-colon; comma, full stop. and exclamation! characters. URL address will use words with dots between the words without spaces and if the system sees these it will treat them as URL links. So please use the preview, it allows you access to the edit button, to change the mistakes otherwise the adverts will just be removed.
  2. NEW! logo after 10 years the tread board needed repainting, if any remember the old Green text logo might remember how the tread patten ended up becoming the background. The photos have also been upgraded to add logo's and date/time stamps to the images on upload so that the photos are noticeable for people linking to them.
  3. Enjoy your use of the site, stay safe, keep to social distance if you are visiting colleagues to pick up a new toy.
  4. A new guide on the form submission page has been added to help people avoid mistakes they get their advert removed, we are sorry that some adverts are lost due to this but if people do not read, we cannot guide them.

Potts drill grinding jig as featured in the Model Engineer magazine in the 1920s. Hemingway, are still listing kits to make them. This one was made some years ago by a professional engineer and passed to me before he passed away. Unfortunately, I have no use for it.

Information: Myford 254 plus gearbox - not working

I have a metric Myford 254 Plus lathe. I'm having difficulty with the gearbox and the selection of feeds. Some of which will not select and some do. Those that do are A 1,2, B 1,2 and C 3,4,5 the others will not engage when using the selector knobs. I have tried the usual spinning of the chuck while the drive is engaged and endless fiddling with the selector knobs but to no avail.
Does anyone have any ideas? I've tried Myford but it's not their principal area of expertise having not had the need to strip a machine down. They do have gearbox spares though.
Getting the gearbox off the lathe and dismantling it looks a challenge. Quite apart from diagnosing why it doesn't select the feeds, unless it's clearly damaged.
Does anyone have any ideas of why it may not be working or how to remove and dismantle the gearbox? You may have the expertise or indeed any gearbox spares or a gearbox under the bench!
I do have a manual so I can see the general arrangement.
All ideas welcome.
