Updates

More Features

Well we have more features,

  1. Some of the adverts are messing the formatting , I can only suggest scrolling down, reloading the page or using FireFox or Edge as they obey the formatting rules for the old gnashed table / column / rows system.
  2. Classified Adverts are no longer blocked by advert blockers.
  3. Automatic SSL (TLS 1.2) and www.homeworkshop.* redirection to make the site safe from prying eyes. This means that older XP age systems will not load the page, over 4k hits a day have stopped trying to access the removed forum from 3 years ago.
  4. Updated the submit advert form. Email are now allowed from numbered addresses.
The name, title and description fields will now reject adverts that will trigger the Anti-Spam and give you chance to update them. The errors will now stay light red and the boarder will turn red so you can still read them.
  5. Fractions have been updated, please do not use the ¼, ½ or ¾. You can use 7.1/4 or 3 1/2 to make the system use the correct formatting. Please check the formatting of adverts after submitting and correct any errors using the edit button.
  6. New photo upload system that will use the inbuilt camera function of phones and tablets, check the images as you need to correct the pictures if they are not rotating correctly. Bad images will be removed.

Hi guys, gals and others.
After having a chat at the weekend, with a fellow home engineering hobbits, about an email I got here about trading rules. A few people may of seen the trader checkbox, this puts the word Trader after a persons name. This is to allow a trader to show that they follow the selling rules for the items they are selling.

Why the reminder Adam? Because the forced time at home has resulted in quite a few people having a large spring clean and people are using this extra time to sell off used stuff.
Why must I use the Trader checkbox? You don't have to but we do see the odd time that the rules are their to protect the buyer and seller. Now the HMRC are not bothered about the people that are just selling a few personal bits but the people that are buying these items to then resell them or are making items for sale to provide a extra income.

HMRC tend to ask the following questions:
  1. When you bought the item(s), did you intend to sell it on at a profit?
  2. Have you made a number of sales on a frequent or regular basis?
  3. Do you make changes to the item(s) between buying and selling, such as repairs, improvements and/or repainting?
  4. Do you sell in a business-like fashion?
  5. Do you borrow to finance purchases and need to sell the items to repay the loan?
  6. Do you plan to sell on goods within a short period after purchasing them?
If you are not sure then it is better that you contact your local HMRC office for advice.

So just a heads up that sellers both individual and trade are welcome here but I don't want people getting in trouble from the taxman.

Details:
As some people will remember I was getting rid of the last few CD's from ME Tools Online but here is the Good, Bad and the Ugly on why some have turned up again.

So the Bad:
It seems that the Royal Mail don't understand what batching post is, put all the items to post in the same basket any pay once, I have to pay for each signed for individually. This caused it's simple drag and click to become a complex hunt, copy & paste and switch to edge. Edge is not bad and is able to cope with the royal mails 19th century system.

The Ugly:
After giving up on learning what the developers had dumped on the unexacting people, I found a very nice person to learn the tricks. I had by this point given up when the order of envelopes turned up as C6 (162 x 142) not C6+ (190 x 140) I smashed the remaining CD's and binned them. Mo more CD's can be made from the Master Images because the files were password protected, turns out they are not protected but have been overwritten with a text string. "These files have been deleted", turns out MY files have been accessed by a dead account holder and while not being to delete the files they were updated.

The Good:
While cleaning up I have discovered that the few CD's that where destroyed are not the only copies. While I cannot make the old versions I have the really last few CD's left. They are:
  1. 3 x Bridgeport Manuals on CD
  2. 2 x Bridgeport CNC Manuals on CD
  3. 5 x Coventry Diehead Manual on CD
  4. 4 x Dividing Head Manuals on CD
  5. 4 x Shaping Machine Manuals on CD
  6. 4 x Tool & Cutter Manuals on CD
And to who ever tried to remove the last of the files, you can never kill the Bigger than life of John because the files you could damage are not the full insight of the mind of a cleaver bodger.

The scncs is the files from the old Small CNC Support that is now gone.
