More Features

Well we have more features,

  1. Use correct sentience formatting rules, a space after the colon: semi-colon; comma, full stop. and exclamation! characters. URL address will use words with dots between the words without spaces and if the system sees these it will treat them as URL links. So please use the preview, it allows you access to the edit button, to change the mistakes otherwise the adverts will just be removed.
  2. NEW! logo after 10 years the tread board needed repainting, if any remember the old Green text logo might remember how the tread patten ended up becoming the background. The photos have also been upgraded to add logo's and date/time stamps to the images on upload so that the photos are noticeable for people linking to them.
  3. Enjoy your use of the site, stay safe, keep to social distance if you are visiting colleagues to pick up a new toy.
  4. A new guide on the form submission page has been added to help people avoid mistakes they get their advert removed, we are sorry that some adverts are lost due to this but if people do not read, we cannot guide them.

Information: What Oil To Lubricate Steam Model Motion ?

Sun 14th Mar '21

Details:
Hi Chaps

This question will no doubt have a plethora of opinions but regards oiling the motion on a steam locomotive what oil is best ?

Will a EP gear oil suffice ?

I see a lot online saying EP80/90 oil would be fine ? , also I see ISO 68 mentioned as suitable ? my lathe way oil is ISO 68 is this the same stuff ?

I have EP gear oil for the gearbox on my Alexander mill also but as I'm uncertain I thought I would ask the very experienced guys on here to see what their thoughts are on the subject ?

Its actually for my just completed Stuart Models No4 but I assume a motion is a motion regardless of size .

look forward to your comments

Hi All

Long time no post

I was wondering if there is anybody out there who has built or attempted to build their own rotary phase converter ?

I have every thing to build it I reckon but the plans online for free are suspect and I have read some bad feedback on plans for sale on eBay .

I wondered if anyone has had a successful build with one off plans they purchased or drew up themselves ?

would love to hear from you if you have

regards

Wanted: 18.5cm band wheel for generic Chinese metal cutting bandsaw

Fri 12th Mar '21

Advert ID: 39549

General
Details:
My generic metal cutting bandsaw (Chinese style) has a 18.5cm (approx) dia cast iron wheel to drive the band. As supplied this was very badly machined. I've trued it up once (and machined the flange which was cunningly left unmachined) but its a bit low on metal and given it has suffered wear not sure I can remachine it again!

I don't imagine I'm the only person looking but wondered if anyone has a solution (or should I just buy a properly made hacksaw machine?)
